The purpose of The Piggyback Foundation board is to help carry families through times of need. We provide assistance to the challenges children and those who love and care for them face when confronted with a serious physical illness. In partnership with the people we serve and our volunteers, our board members are committed to following God's guidance in our mission.
Lisa and Dirk Hiler moved to Norwalk in 2005. Lisa graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in Elementary Education. After teaching for several years she decided to retire and stay at home to raise their two children. Lisa has been an active volunteer in many communities. In Daytona Beach, Florida she volunteered for Safe House, a home for runaway teens. As a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Fraternity, she became an Alumnae Advisor at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. She has been active in coordinating events in several Parent Teacher Organizations.
Dirk graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in Engineering and started a career in manufacturing. Dirk has volunteered to coach youth sports and coached the Lacrosse club at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. As a business leader, Dirk has had the opportunity to serve the United Way and has been involved with stewardship at First Presbyterian Church.
Lisa Herner is a 1986 graduate of Edison High School (Milan, OH) and a 1991 graduate of The Ohio State University. Matthew is a 1985 Norwalk High School graduate and a 1989 Bowling Green State University graduate. In May of 1996, Lisa and Matt opened the doors of Christian Robert's Salon and Spa. The business developed out of Lisa's passion for people and Matt's desire to serve the local area.
The Piggyback Foundation, for Lisa, has been an answer to prayer… an opportunity to be a blessing to families in our local community. It's amazing to experience what God can do when you, first, listen, and then obey… powerful! Matt, Lisa, and the Christian Robert's staff enthusiastically sponsor the Piggyback's annual fund raiser the first Sunday in November, "Cutting for a Cause".
Kathy Annarino became involved with When Pigs Fly as a volunteer, then began helping in the office for both the shop and The Piggyback Foundation and finally became a board member. Kathy and her husband, Phil moved to Norwalk three years ago when Phil joined Fisher Titus Medical Center. Kathy worked in marketing, training and communications in her prior full-time work. After moving to Norwalk, she decided to look for volunteer work. One night walking their dog, Gracie, Phil and Kathy walked by the shop; Phil had just met Lisa that week; and Kathy decided to go in the next day to see how she could help the foundation. It was the shop’s first year and she’s loved every minute of getting involved in this amazing organization.
Morgan is the daughter of Dirk and Lisa Hiler. She has been involved with the foundation since inception. Morgan is in her senior year at Baldwin Wallace University pursuing a degree in Business minoring in Human Resource Management. She has been involved in all aspects of the foundation from working with families, managing When Pigs Fly, to working on the Executive Board as Secretary. Morgan is inspired to help foundation in it’s mission to create joy for children in Northeast Ohio.
Linda has been a long time resident of Norwalk. She graduated from the Toledo School of Nursing at Toledo University. She worked as an educator at EHOVE Career Center in the field of Nursing. Linda has volunteered for Stein Hospice and is active in many social activities. Linda has 14 grandchildren and two great–grandchildren. In her retirement she loves to travel. She brings joy and laughter to our board which is much needed when dealing with life threatening illnesses.
Sue's passion for the Piggyback Foundation comes from her heart.She has volunteered many years with Stine Hospice, the Big Brother/Big Sister Foundation and now The Piggyback Foundation. Her heart smiles at any opportunity she gets to help a family in need.
Melissa graduated from Kent State University in 2004 with a degree in Integrated Social Studies After working in Finance for several years Melissa was blessed with a job at the Huron County Board of Developmentially Disabled. Helping people is what she believes in and this is why she is committed to the Piggyback Foundation.
Sheila Schaffer has been on the board since 2014 and uses her passion of helping others to support families in need and brighten their day. Sheila has been involved with other non-profit organizations like the United Way.
Laurie is a manager at When Pigs Fly and has helped with The Piggyback Foundation since it's beginning. Laurie has a passion for working with families in need.
Connie Todd and her husband Jeff were recipients of the foundation when ner husband was diagnosed with cancer.With understanding and passion ,Connie sends cards of hope to Piggyback Families. She joined the foundation board in 2015 and started working as a Family Liason.
