Meet Our Board Members
Dawn BlackAdministrator After the passing of my mother, I had to resign from my job and focus on my new role as caregiver and guardian to my sister. When looking for part-time work that aligned with her schedule, I found the Piggyback Foundation. Now here I am-- praying and serving. |
Lisa BoganFamily Liaison Piggyback quickly became family when my son, Spencer was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. My son passed away in 2019. When asked to be on the board, I couldn't say no! I love giving back to our wonderful community and making a difference in the lives of those who have been flipped upside down. Family matters! |
Tricia EbnerFamily Liaison As a previous Piggyback family and now a board member/family liason, I have seen the impact of The Piggyback Foundation has. I am blessed to be able to give back. |
Lisa & Matt HernerFamily Liason & Board Member We always wanted to make a difference in our community by loving and serving others. The Piggyback Foundation is a perfect avenue to help. The Foundation restores a sense of normalcy while letting families know how much we care. God is in the details of this wonderful organization! |
Dirk HilerFounder/ Treasurer I have been with the Foundation since the beginning. I like being able to help and support an organization that makes a difference in people’s lives. |
Lisa HilerFounder/ Executive Director I have been with the Foundation since the beginning. My passion for supporting the Foundation is meeting the families we serve. I love being able to see the relief on parent's faces and the joy on the children’s faces when Piggyback steps in to help. |
Kelly KromerBoard Member When my son was diagnosed with brain cancer in July 2023, The Piggyback Foundation played a critical role in supporting my family during that challenging time. The love we received made all the difference, and I want to give back in the same way by helping others who are going through similar struggles. |
Martha LongFamily Liason Twenty-seven years ago, my first husband passed away with cancer and I felt a calling to help other families. I managed the Norwalk store for six years before retiring. Since then, I've been working as a Family Liason and board member. The joy we give is simply heartwarming. |
Deb LucalFamily Liaison The Piggyback Foundation helped my family through the Sunshine Fund. I love their mission and wanted to give back to the organization and the community. I enjoy sharing joy with our families whether that be spiritual, financial, or anything else I can provide. It is very rewarding to give back. |
Julie MurdockFamily Liaison Every family has been impacted by cancer in some way. I have seen the emotional and physical toll it takes on a family, especially the children. Piggyback is my way of trying to address these tragedies with joy. |
Amy ParcherFamily Liaison I joined the Piggyback Board because I believe in their mission to support families in times of crisis. This is a much needed organization in our community and one very appreciated by the families we help. |
Krista SchaferFamily Liaison/Newsletter When my youngest went to school, I wanted to use my time to help a local non-profit. Upon meeting Lisa Hiler and the other board members, I knew The Piggyback Foundation was where I was meant to be! I truly believe God will lead you down the path you are supposed to be on… and here I am! |

Laurie & Tom SchmuhlBoard Members Laurie expresses her creative talent through the shop and assisting with the decor. When Tom retired, she moved from the working board to the executive board with her husband. Tom helps the Foundation through finances and business. |
Amanda StaveskieBoard Member I realized how much support a family needed after my brother Bryce was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and my best friend's son Spencer was also diagnosed. I then knew that Piggyback was where I needed to focus my time. |
Laura WinklerFamily Liaison I became involved as a volunteer and then as a board member because I strongly wanted to contribute to the efforts of the Foundation's mission. It brings me joy to be part of an organization that makes such an important impact on the lives of families during their difficult times.
